FINAL #5 Andrew Van Nest

This is Final #5 where I created a realistic avatar in Makehuman. It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc.



I thought it was very interesting how intricate you could detail the human body in this program, but at the same time find it extremely difficult to cloth my avatar. I experimented with body tone, and the facial structure of the avatar and you could change everything from the pout of the lips to the rigidness of the jawline. I found it hilarious as well when I increased the height meter to the max because I went off the screen. Also at the end when I tried to add hair to my avatar I could only find this length, as the others were way too long or too short. This is my Final #5.

FINAL #2 Andrew Van Nest

This is Final #2 where i build a structure in cloud party time!!  It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc.
Attempting to build structures in Cloud Party time. This was supposed to be a space ship of some sort. The spheres are cockpits, and pillars are directional fins.

Experimenting with the weapons systems. Triangular shields to protect, a clear tube for easy ammo loading, and a 19th century war cannon. Makes total sense.

Still building and experimenting.

FINAL #3 Andrew Van Nest

This is Final #3 where we all teamed up to build a house in cloud party!!  It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The makings of our construction crew before the house had been started!

 I had started to make one of the four walls using the long rectangular boxes.

 While building one of the four walls I was tasked by my group to construct a door so that our avatars could enter our lovely house: This is the start of that creation.
 Finished product, I used the arching blocks to add a nice feel to the door so it wasn't so blocky, and rigid.

 Decided to exit build mode and take a look at our progress. The roof has been finished and on the left our porch is being constructed. I also added some pillars in front of the doorway so we could add to the value of the house.

 I built a dog house in the front yard as well, along with some boxes for recycling because we want to keep the Cloud Party Time virtual world clean and efficient.

 The porch had been finished but I thought it might look cool to add a railing for safety. The rounded stumps are the long circular pillars lowered into the ground to give a shorter look.

Class #12 Roll Call 1 and 2


FINAL #4 Andrew Van Nest

This is Final #4 in which we need to find Monocular Depth Cues in a virtual world.  It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  Atmospheric Perspective: The city is blurry and far away, and the cars are close and detailed.

 Lighting/Shadowing: The building color is darker due to the arching pathways ceiling. Even though the building color isn't actually a different color.

 Linear Perspective: As one looks down the road the it seems to get closer and closer and touch.

 Occlusion: The "OpenWonderland" flyer is blocking the arching pathway so we know what is in front and what is in back.

 Size Differences: The Door on the right is closer and seems larger, while the door on the left is further away and seems smaller.


Texture Density: The closer you are the further apart the bricks seem, but the further you are from the bricks the closer they seem.
